Uttar Pradesh State Election Commission
The Uttar Pradesh State Election Commission was established in 1994 to facilitate the public in the state by ensuring they participate in elections as well as by providing information and instructions on how to register as a voter. The SEC is responsible for conducting elections of the local government bodies such as the Gram Panchayats, Kshetra Panchayats, and Zila Panchayats, as well as the electoral process of the urban local bodies such as municipal corporations. It is a department of the Uttar Pradesh government. The commission works with a modern information system to keep election records, manage voter registration, conduct elections, and vote count. The voting system in India is based on a paper ballot system, where the voter marks a selection box on a voting slip. The commission is responsible for ensuring the smooth transfer of voting results from the polling station to the district election officer.
